What a Show.

Yesterday, Julie and I attended the Old Capitol Blues and BBQS Festival in
downtown Springfield.

The Weather was great, couldn't ask for a better day. The whole event was put
together very well. If you have gone to events like this one you know as well as
I do that to have a successful l festival you not only need Great food and
entertainment but plenty of porta-pottys and hand washing stations. Downtown
Springfield incorporated defiantly hit the nail on the head. We also liked the
small standup tables that where in the streets, met a lot of different folk, had
so many great conversations while sharing a table and some awesome BBQ.
Now to the music…

The Illinois Central Blues Club held its Blues Challenge. Nine Bands and 3
Solo/Duo acts were vying for the opportunity to represent the Illinois Central
Blues Club at the IBC (International Blues Challenge) on Beale Street in Memphis
in January 20-23, 2010. Two stages where set up side by side. While one band was
performing, the next band was setting up. The transitions were smooth; not a lot
of waiting around for the next band to start. Each band had 25 minutes to
impress the judges. My compliments to the judges: it wasn't an easy choice. I
couldn't even pick my favorite band. We were so impressed with the event we
joined the Illinois Central Blues Club.

The winners:
Band Eric Guitar Davis & The Troublemakers.
Solo Robert Sampson.

These guys are going to have a blast in Memphis. Good Luck and we will see you
there!

Next week we will be attending the Illinois Blues Festival; Riverfront Park,
Peoria. It runs from 6:00 pm on Friday, Sept. 4th to about 10:00 pm Sat. Sept
5th.

 Hope to see you there!
