1. Secretary’s Report-Last month’s minutes were emailed to board members, posted on the yahoo sites & web page
a. We would like to start having the Education, Jam, Merchandise Committees post their minutes for each meeting. Email them to Julie for posting
2. Financial Report-Mary Martin
a. Current bank balance as of 4/12/11 is $3490.91
b. 2010 Taxes-David is working on getting these filed

3. Membership Report-Marshall Sperry/Robert Gooch
a. Currently have 100 members, 21 are in poor standing, with their annual due being late

4. Education Committee
a. New Email address decaturbluesintheschools@gmail.com
b. March 20th – Guitar Blues with Reverend Robert @ Rock Springs @ 1:00-this was a huge success, and Rock Springs is interested in doing a second event with Deak Harp. We tabled scheduling this event until next month.
c. Aug 13th Steve the Harp
i. Julie is supposed to be getting information on Harmonicas from Deb Mehlberg soon.
d. Letter/mailing to all schools in Macon County (copy instructors via email)
e. Instructors are lined up (Noah Williams, Nick Alexander, Kirby Ingraham, Joe Asselin, Steve the Harp, Shelby King, Andy Duncanson, Tom Duncanson, Reverend Robert, Don Wright, Deak Harp, Bobby Givens and possibly a couple of others)

5. Merchandise Committee-Mary Martin
a. T-shirts have been ordered for a total cost of $968.00. We ordered light blue t-shirts, light blue tank tops, and re-upped the existing colors.

6. Monthly Jams-Roger Meredith
a. May 21-22nd @ LCV-Blues & BBQ Weekend
i. We are doing a “showcase” not a jam
b. Jams have been scheduled through Nov. at this point, with an extra jam in June on the 26th at Coziher’s (sp). Check the website for dates, places & hosts
c. The next Jam Committee meeting is 2:00 pm at The Winery.
7. Upcoming Events
a. Radio Advertisement!!!!  We have a radio spot running on Neuhoff Media stations at no cost. They have asked for up to 6 tickets to ticketed events, and “VIP” seating at free events as payment.
b. Laurie Morvan-Decatur Club, July 7th. We are waiting for a contract from Laurie’s manager, and we are penciled in for the Decatur Club.
c. Bourbon Barrel is having Blues Bands every Saturday in April 4:00-8:00. This Saturday’s band is Blue Deacons. Help get the word out to support this project.
d. The Lindsey Harrison Band & Soul Creek are playing Saturday the 16th at Pop’s Place 8 – 12:00
8. Blues and BBQ: May 21st & 22nd
a. Julie will assist Noah in chairing the event
b. DBS receives ½ the proceeds from the door
i. Cost is $10 per person
ii. Last year they had 2000 people on Saturday
iii. A donation was made, and Terri is going to order wine glasses, and give $1.25 per wine glass sold to DBS Education Committee.
c. Rain Insurance discussion-We decided to try to get rain insurance from 8:00 am - 4:00 am on Saturday only for ½” of rain for $3200. At the cost of about $360. Julie will contact Bill Ryan about this and confirm. This insurance does not have to be purchase until 14 days before the event.
d. We are going to get contract with each paid band for the performance time & agreed upon amount
e. Lineup:

ii. Sunday 12:00 – 5:00
1. Matthew Curry and the Blues Fury $600

Total Cost: $2750
*A donation of $1500 was made for covering the cost of the plane tickets for Alan and his band to come to Decatur for this event. The tickets have been purchased. The Band will stay with Don & Julie.
f. Sound
i. Propose hiring professional soundman.
1. Bill Keister will charge $450 w/PA for both days ($3200)
2. Motion to accept this was made by Marshall, seconded by Mark and approved by all
g. Skeff Distributing will help with printing posters & advertisement
h. StLouis.Net will have a table set up with information (Dave Beardsley)
